Skin inflammation causes multiple syndromes, including psoriasis, sclerodermia, atopic dermatitis, vitiligo, and alopecia. Modelling those diseases without a combination of fibroblast, ECM, and immune components cannot capture the diversity of cross-talk involved in the disease development and progression. Our ECM – embedded tissue sheets allow to monitor the complexity of molecular and mechanobiological effects occurring during pathogenesis, and use those material properties as read-outs for the complex system response. With immune cells located inside sheets, we can predict and model immunogenicity, fibroblasts transformation and other effects in the confined spaces
